Atlas Shrugged 50th publication anniversary

The First prize will be US0 and copies of the books Philosophy: Who Needs It, by Ayn Rand;  Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand, by Leonard Peikoff;  The Ayn Rand Lexicon, edited by Harry Binswanger.The Second prize will be copies of  Philosophy: Who Needs It, by Ayn Rand;  Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand, by Leonard Peikoff;  The Ayn Rand Lexicon, edited by Harry Binswanger.Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand, is one of the books that has influenced the most the lives of The New York Times readers, according to a poll made by the Monthly Readers Club of that newspaper, in 1991.

To celebrate the 50th publication anniversary of that important novel, closely related with freedom philosophy and reason, the Ludwig von Mises Library, of Universidad Francisco Marroquín organized an Atlas Shrugged essay contest.  

The contest main objective is to promote the reading of Atlas Shrugged, to promote the analysis and diffusion of the ideas in the book and to honor the author in the 50th year of its publication.  The novel is available at libraries throughout the campus of Universidad Francisco Marroquín and in Sophos library.

Essay requirements:

They should be written on a computer with an Arial or Times New Roman font, number 12, double space and be printed on one side only.The minimal extension will be 3 pages and the maximum is 15 pages.If the essay is sent through e-mail, it should be sent as an attachment, not in the body of the email.Inscription:

The last essays will be admitted on Friday September 14th of 2007.
