Devil burning, at the Ludwig von Mises Library

The fire warmed the hearts and ended with the Devil

The Devil was burned at the Ludwig von Mises Library, of Universidad Francisco Marroquín, according to the Guatemalan tradition of December 7th.

In this day the Guatemalans burn the Devil in a symbolic act of cleaning.  Since ancient times they usually remove, to the front of the house, old things with which they make a pyre that symbolizes the burning of all evil.

Personnel of the Library and guests gathered at the Librarys Kaffee Künstler and with old newspapers, old library catalog cards and other papers, ignited the conventional fire.

During the celebration, the participants tasted Egg Nogg and toasted tortillas with frijoles.
