Distinguished graduates received honors at the UFM

Carlos Marroquín, Héctor España and Jorge Benavides, distinguished Summa Cum Laude, during the act in their honor

A total of 45 distinguished graduates from Universidad Francisco Marroquín participated in the academic honors act celebrated at the auditorium Juan Bautista Gutiérrez last November 10th 2006.

The distinguished Suma Cum Laude’s were Jorge Benavides, from the Economic Sciences School, Héctor España, from the Business School and Carlos Marroquín, from the Education Department.

During the act, UFM’s President, Giancarlo Ibárgüen S. spoke to the graduates; on the other hand, Jorge Benavides gave a speech in name of the graduates.  You will be able to see the act here, soon.

During the same act the Awards Charles L. Stillman were handed to the best research and journalism columns on freedom philosophy and the economic analysis of law and politics.

The honors handed by the President were:  Cum Laude, granted to those who have an accumulated average between 85 to 90; Magna Cum Laude, granted to those with an accumulated average between 91 and 94; and Summa Cum Laude, for those that have an accumulated average between 95 and 100.

According to UFM’s rules, the students who have an academic degree of baccaleureus, licentiate or magister can opt for a distinction based on their academic history, their performance and behavior during their stay at the University, as well as a recommendation from the Dean.  In the cases where the degree requires a thesis, it should reflect a superior academic ability and have tree favorable evaluations.

The UFM’s mission is to teach and diffuse the ethical, juridical and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons.
