ELSA Moot Court Competition concluded

The team from the Javerian University of Columbia was the champion in the ELSA Moot Court Competition celebrated at the Francisco Marroquín University, from March 7th to 10th, 2006.  The second place was for the Instituto Teconológico Autónomo  from Mexico.

The
ELSA   Moot Court Competition on World Trade Law is organized by the European Law Student´s Association (ELSA) and the Consejo Latinoamericano de Estudiosos del Derecho Internacional Comparado  (COLADIC), with the technical support from the World Trade Organization.  The latinamerican rounds of the competition were celebrated at the Frederic Bastiat courtroom of the UFM´s Law School.

The final round of the competition, however, was held on March 10th at the courtroom in Guatemala´s Supreme Justice Court.

The participants in the rounds were teams from Brasil, Colombia, Mexico and Guatemala, and the winning team has the chance to travel to Geneva to compete with other world countries.

UFM student teams have participated in international law competitions in cities like Washington D.C. and Viena.  In San José, Costa Rica, they got the first place on the competition and brought a trophy home.

The prize for the best argument, of all, was for the team from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomofrom Mexico, meanwhile the awards for the best lawsuit, and the best answer were for the ITAM and the Javeriana.

The best preacher, during the finals, was Rafael Rincón, from the Javeriana, and the second best preacher, was Enrique Orellana, from the ITAM.  The best preacher from the preliminary rounds was Diego Vasconcellos.
