Environmentalism, at Freedom Exploratioins

Environmentalism was the topic of the XIX colloquy Freedom Explorations that was organized conjointly by the Francisco Marroquín University and the Liberty Fund.  It was celebrated on June 22nd to 24th 2006.

During the colloquy property rights, the political approach to environmentalism, critics to the free market approach and the restatement of the free market approach, were discussed.

The participants in the colloquy were:  Rosa Tibaau and Pablo ARosamena, from Equator; Alejandra Cuestas and Roberto Blum, from Mexico; Pablo Gurdián and Adrián Brenes, from Costa Rica; Roberto Brenes, from Panamá; Gaudy Bustillo, from Honduras; Carol Morgan and Axel Cherniavsky, from Argentina; Gustavo Loayza and Daniel Córdova, from Perú; Darío Fernández, from the United States of America and Carmen Urízar and Carla de Hess, from Guatemala.  The discussions were lead by Ramón Parellada, from the UFM.  The observers were Juan Carlos Cachanosky, from the UFM, and Patrick Lynch, from the
Liberty Fund.

The series
, conducted by Lucy Martínez-Mont, is part of the UFM’s Presidents Office, with the Liberty Fund, to promote the Socratic dialogues and the idea interchange in a free environment.

On Friday 23rd, some participants made a tour to the UFM campus where they visited the Popol Vuh Museum, the Academic Building with its Socratic Wing, the Ludwig von Mises Library and its special collection room, and the work done at the New Media Digital Resources Center.
