Hans Sennholz died

Hans Sennholz at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in 1988

Hans Sennholz, freedom champion and doctor honris causa by Universidad Francisco Marroquín died last June 23rd of 2007.

Sennholz studied with Ludwig von Mises and was member of the Austrian Economy School; he taught at the Grove City College and was president of the Foundation for Economic Education.  In 1998 he received an honorific doctorate degree in Social Sciences, by Universidad Fancisco Marroquín.

According to
Joseph Salerno, Sennholz had the attributes that Ludwig von Mises considered as needful for human societys flourishment: the intellectual power of outstanding men to conceive sound social and economic theories, and the ability of these or other men to make these ideologies palatable to the majority.

According to the obituary in
www.sennholz.com, his life was an adventure.  He survived the hyperinflation, the great depression and Nazism.  He was a combat pilot and was decorated for bravery.  He was a war prisoner and studied by mail at the University of Texas in Austin, in order to obtain later on a Ph.D. at New York University.

Llewelyn H. Rockwell Jr., says that Sennholz is one of the handful of economists who dared defend free market and sound money during the dark years before the Misesian revival; and he did it with eloquence, precision and in a brilliant way.

He was a prolific writer in economic, political and social themes; he was author of 17 books including: Age of Inflation, Gold is money, Death and Taxes and The United States and Socialism in Latin America.
