Héctor Lopez and John Jackson, Director of the IIEL of the School of Law of the Georgetown University

The lawyer and international relacionista Héctor Lopez, graduated with honors in 2005, in the University Francisco Marroquín,  was elect like fellow of the Institute of International Economic Law, of the School of Law of the Georgetown University where it is studying to receive its rank of LL.M.

Every year, the IIEL chooses like fellows to a number of students, academic and investigating remarkable visitors. In 2005 those come from 22 different countries.

The objective of the Institute, directed by John Jackson, is to promote the academic investigation in the field of the international economic law; by means of the creation of forums of discussion and weekly meetings with important professors, congressmen and civil employees. All this around important subjects of the international economic law.

Héctor Lopez is the first Guatemalan who is chosen as fellow en the IIEL. In addition to their title like lawyer and notary, Lopez counts on a B.A. in International Relations which obtained with honors. Both titles are of the UFM. New fellow of the IIEL has been junior instructor of Laws and Economy in the Center of Analysis of the Public Decisions of this house of studies and has based its works on the theories of James M. Buchanan. Before entering to Georgetown, Lopez did one pasantía in the mission of Guatemala in the United Nations and worked like adviser of Price Waterhouse Coopers.
