Joel Salpak, Israel´s ambassador;  Julio Lowenthal, UFM´s fiduciary; and Giancarlo Ibárgüen S., UFM´s President

Joel Salpak, ambassador of the State of Israel in Guatemala, visited the University Francisco Marroquín last Wednesday, January 25 of 2006.

During the morning, the diplomatic representative visited the Ixchel Museum at the UFM´s campus; and in the afternoon he met with UFM´s President Giancarlo Ibárgüen S. and UFM´s fiduciary Julio Lowenthal.

During the encounter they spoke of the UFM´s mission, that is the education and diffusion of the ethical, legal and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons, which is contained in the Ideario of this house of studies.   Also, they talked about their commitment with academic excellence, understood like «the quality of ideas, principles and performances of those who, like professors or students, are habitually located over the simple material and routine fulfillment, constituting before all a live example of coherent life». Excellence understood this way «is only possible in a frame of freedom, competition and respect».

Other subjects of discussion were the opportunities of academic interchanges between educative organizations of Israel, and the UFM.
