John Blundell, director of the United Kingdom´s Institute of Economic Affairs, visited the University Francisco Marroquín on Thursday 5, January 2006.

During his stay in this house of studies, Blundell met the president Giancarlo Ibárgüen S. and visited campus.  In that occasion, he also met with UFM´s president emeritus Manuel F. Ayau.

Founded on 1955, the Institute of Economic Affairs objective is to explain to the public the free market ideas.  This includes politicians, students, journalists, industralists, academics and every one else that´s interested.  The main principles of the IEA maintain that people should be free to do what they want in their lives, as long as they do not damage others persons.

In the UFM, Blundell visited the Academic Building and its socratic Wing, the Students Center, the Advanced Technologies Center, the Ludwig von Mises Library and the work that the New Media Digital Resources Center does.  He also visited the Social and Economic Studies Center. All in the company of president Ibárgüen, the UFM´s General Secretary Ricardo Castillo A. and of other UFM staff.
