Invited by Edwin Xol, who gave the speech in name of his companions during the commencement act celebrated last May 5th of 2007, Mrs. Karolina Murphy met with members from the program Impulso al Talento Académico (ITA), of Universidad Francisco Marroquín.

During the encounter that occurred on May 4th of 2007, Mrs. Murphy met some members of this program with whom she interchanged ideas. The visitor also knew the experiences and expectations of these students.

At the UFM, the intention of the program Impulso al Talento Académico is to form successful local and international professionals prepared to occupy the most important leadership positions and to carry out the mission of Universidad Francisco Marroquín.

This house of studies, through the ITA Program grants the selected students, during their entire career, a complete scholarship that covers the expenses of matriculation, quotas and text books. In addition it grants an allowance for study supplies and transportation. The Program also covers the lodging expenses in university residences.

The students who enjoy the benefits of the ITA Program are carefully selected in order to recruit students with extraordinary intellectual capacities and the determination to acquire an excellent professional formation in Business Management, Political Studies, Economy or Law. Another indispensable condition to have access to the program is that those students lack enough economic resources to pay for their studies.

The students must maintain grade averages superior to the average required in their respective academic units and, in addition, they must demonstrate high leadership qualities.

Accompanied by Murray Trotta and a group by students, Karolina Murphy toured the UFM campus and visited the New Media Digital Resources Center, the Ludwig von Mises Library and the Popol Vuh Museum. She also participated in the act where the distinguished graduates were honored, since her host, Edwin Xol, graduated Magna Cum Laude. On the following day, Murphy and Trotta attended the graduation act in which Robert J. Mud received an honoris causadoctorate degree.
