Kazumasa Yamashita spoke of his architectonic work, at the UFM

Kazumasa Yamashita at the UFM’s Milton Friedman Auditorium.

The architectonic work of Kazumasa Yamashita, was the subject of the conference that this Japanese architect presented in the School of Architecture of Universidad Francisco Marroquín last February 13th of 2007.

Yamashita designed the Kubo House, in 1980, in Tokyo; and received the prize from the Architectonic Institute of Japan, in 1976. He also designed the building From 1st, the Hirano Clinic and the Kitamura House.  His buildings are executed professionally in an abstract and modern way, but he has also produced Pop designs, like the Face House.  Before that he belonged to a group of more orthodox and pragmatic architects than emerged after the Metabolist movement concluded.

He graduated from the Tokio Institute of Technology, worked for Nikken Sekkei, Paul Schneider-Esleben and for the Greater London Council.  

During his stay at the UFM, in addition to in this conference, Yamashita it participated in the Symposium of the International Map Collectors´ Society and in a floating light contest organized by the Ludwig von Mises Library.  In this last event he acted as a judge.
