Liberty, equality and redistribution in Explorations on liberty

The visitors at the UFM campus.

A group of intellectuals from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Perú and Venezuela met in Guatemala from March 1st to the 4th of 2007, to participate in the colloquy Liberty, Equality and Redistribution sponsored by Universidad Francisco Marroquín and the Liberty Fund.

In this occasion the colloquy was based on the discussion of the texts by Friedrich A. Hayek, Bertrand de Jouvenel, Thomas Sowell, Helmuth Schoeck and other authors.

On Friday March 2nd, the participants toured the UFM campus where they met with UFM’s President Giancarlo Ibárgüen S. During the encounter the UFM President told them the origin of the UFM, its mission that is “to teach and diffuse the ethical, juridical and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons”, and its commitment with excellence. When concluding the meeting the visitors walked through the UFM campus.

The colloquy is part of the program Explorations on Liberty directed by Lucy Martínez-Montt.
