Lourdes Marie Falla, from the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations of Universidad Francisco Marroquín, received the Jesus Amurrio Award to the academic excellence, during an act that was celebrated last April 26 of 2007 at the Friedrich A. Hayek Auditorium, of this house of studies.

This award is granted annually, by EPRI, to the student that has distinguished and has attained the highest average in the career of International Relations. It has the name of Jesus Amurrio, doctor honoris causa, of this university and beloved professor of Social Philosophy and Political Thinking.

The award was given to Lourdes Marie Falla by Enrique Amurrio, son of Don Jesus, in the presence of the director of the Institute, Pedro Trujillo; as well as EPRI students, professors and guests. Trujillo made reference to the academic and personal merits of Lourdes Marie Falla. Enrique Amurrio, also spoke.

The Awards to the Academic Excellence, in EPRI, were stated in 1996, and were instituted by doctor Maria Eugenia de Massis, who directed the Institute back then.

The Award consists of an honoring diploma made in parchment paper by an expert calligrapher, and some cash that is determined by the donations received during that specific period. These awards are possible thanks to the donations of people interested in motivating students to pursue academic excellence during their career.

There are two Awards: the Jesus Amurrio Award for students of International Relations; and the Armando de la Torre Award for students of Political Science.
