Manuel Janson, Héctor Chocoj and Carla Silva, at the Popol Vuh Museum.

To know the program Impulso al Talento Académico (ITA) of the Francisco Marroquín University and to share with the program members, the businessman Manuel Jason visited this house of studies last July 17th, 2006.

At the UFM the purpose of the program Impulso al Talento Académico is to form professionals capable of success, locally and internationally, prepared to occupy the most important leadership positions and to fulfill the UFMs mission.

This house of studies, through the ITA program grants a full scholarship to the selected students during the entire career, covering tuition and books expenses, and a monthly payment for transport and other academic needs.  The program also covers housing expenses at college dorm-rooms.

The students that benefit from the ITA program are carefully selected with the purpose of recruiting students with extraordinary intellectual abilities and the determination and will to acquire an excellent professional formation in Business Management, Political Studies, Economics or Law.  Another indispensable condition is that the students must lack the necessary income to afford the tuition.

The students keep their grade averages above the mean in their respective academic units and they also show high leadership qualities.

Janson had lunch with the ITA students Madelein Cifuentes, Irán Cruz, Oscar Chiquitó and Luis Vetorazzi; and Mónica de Zelaya, from the Economic Sciences School and one of the principal promoters of the program.

After lunch, he visited the Popol Vuh Museum; the Academic Building and its Socratic Wing; the Ludwig von Mises Library and its special book collection; and the got acquainted with the work done at the New Media Digital Resources Center.  All of these joined by Héctor Chocoj, ITA student, and Carla Silva, from the Development Department.

In the afternoon he had dinner with Esteban Andrino, Paul Boteo, Irán Cruz, Irene Pérez and Edwin Xol, also ITA students.
