Quauhquechollan linen and map exhibition, at the UFM

Partial view of the Quauhquechollan linen that is at the UFM.

The route traveled by the quauhquecholtecs, lead by Jorge de Alvarado, during the conquest of Guatemala, can be retraced through the history narrated in the Linen cloth of Quauhquechollan that is reproduced beneath the Liberty Plaza of the Cultural Center at Universidad Francisco Marroquín.

The linen cloth is not only one of the few sources that exists on the conquest expeditions but the first geographic map that is known of our country. In it the history of a migration that transformed the identity of a whole community is narrated.

Additionally, at the Seminar Center, of the same Cultural Center, is the exhibition of ancient maps, organized with occasion of the symposium Four Centuries of Geographic Expressions of the Central American Isthmus, of the International Map Collectors´ Society.
