Pedro Trujillo, director of the Political Studies and International Relations Institute (EPRI) welcomed the students of this academic unit on Thursday, January 12 2005 at the Milton Friedman Auditorium in the Francisco Marroquín University.

«There is a qualitative jump from school to the university.  Here, you are you yourself, responsible for you yourself. And we are to supporting you, to orient you, to help you; but not to direct you.  It is an important change, and if you do not study, it´s over.  Be successful and responsible «, Trujillo said.

«You have the obligation to take control of the Institute because it will do better based on your initiatives and your proposals. Get close to the students association, it has 110 in quality and what they have done is because they have decided to do so.  Sugest conferences and activities because this is going to work as you want it to work», he added.

He remembered that in July it will be celebrated, at the UFM, the third Central American Symposium of Students of International Relations and cheered the new ones to get involved in the students association.

In his speech, the EPRI´s director invited the students to approach the Public Decisions Analysis Center (
CADEP) and to the
Ibn Khaldun Center  to extend their academic experiences.  He also talked about punctuality, the University and the Institute´s rules, and the need of being pending of important dates and email checking. He also mentioned the possibilities of scholarships, jobs and internships that can be obtained by means of the Institute.  «We are looking for spaces to project you», he indicated.
