UFM honored distinguished graduates

A total of 31 distinguished graduates of Universidad Francisco Marroquín participated in the academic honors act that was celebrated at the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Auditorium, last May 4th of 2007.

Ana Margarita de Polazcyk from the Department of Education was distinguished Suma Cum Laude.

During the act, UFM’s President, Giancarlo Ibárgüen S. gave a speech to the graduates; whereas Robert J. Barro, who received an honoris causa doctorate the next day during the commencement act, also spoke to them after receiving the diploma that credits him as UFM’s Visiting Professor.

The honors that were given by the President are: Cum Laude, granted to those who have an accumulated average between 85 and 90 points; Magna Cum Laude, granted to those who have an accumulated average between 91 to 94 points; and Summa Cum Laude, for those who have an accumulated average between 95 to 100 points.

In agreement with UFM’s regulation, the students who receive an academic degree of baccaleureus, licentiate, or magister can receive a distinction based on their academic record, their performance and conduct during their permanence in the University, as well as the recommendation of the Dean.  In the cases where the degree requires a thesis, it should reflect a superior academic ability and have three favorable opinions.

When finalizing the act, the General Secretary, Ricardo Castillo A., invited the participants to a cocktail at the Liberty Plaza.

The UFM’s mission is to teach and diffuse the ethical, legal and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons.
