UFM teachers in Socratic dialogue seminar

Professors of Universidad Francisco Marroquín from different academic units are participating in the seminar Kinds of Order in the Classroom: An Introduction to Socratic Practice lectured by Albert Loan and organized by the Henry Hazlitt Center of this house of studies.

The seminar has several topics like thinking together and intellectual independence; introduction to dialogue; evolution of learning culture; the use of dialogue as an organizational principle; and moving towards a student centered classroom.

Also on: dialogue ethics, tacit rules, emotional and intellectual answers, the relevance of college experience and the dialogue technology.

Albert Loan teaches a The School of the Woods in Houston, Texas; a private diversified Montessori school.   He is an expert in Socratic dialogues, graduated from George Mason University with an M.A. in Education from the Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts.

The seminar began on November 22nd 2006 and will conclude on November 24th.  There are two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, for the teachers convenience.
