Freshmen students from the School of Law of Universidad Francisco Marroquín, accompanied by Dean Milton Estuardo Argueta and authorities of that academic unit, met with director Giancarlo Ibárgüen S.

During the encounter, the Director talked about the mission of the UFM that is to teach and diffuse the ethical, juridical and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons; and the motivations of the founders of the University.

He also talked about to the commitment of this house of studies with the excellence, which is defined as “a superior quality that makes people or things worthy of singular esteem”. President Ibárgüen explained that for this house of studies, “academic excellence is the quality of ideas, principles and performance of those who, like professors or students, are habitually located over the simple material and routine fulfillment of their duties, constituting before all a live example of coherent life”. Excellence understood this way is only possible in a frame of freedom, competition and respect.

This commitment with excellence is contained in a document that, as a contract with the students and professors has been drafted at University Francisco Marroquín. Ibárgüen also spoke of the importance of the evaluations of university professors and the responsibility of the students.

As examples of success in the search of excellence, the President showed the students some activities that are made in the UFM, such as the services of the
Ludwig von Mises Library, the
New Media Digital Resources Center, Museo
Popol Vuh and the
Arboretum
