With their beautiful plumage with an intense red color, birds known as White Wing Tanagers cheer up the campus of Universidad Francisco Marroquín.

This species usually feeds in pairs or small groups in medium to high elevations in relation to the ground level. Tanagers are usually accompanied by mixed species of birds, and their nests have the shape of glasses placed in average elevations between the trees.

These small birds live on semi-humid to humid forests, agricultural plantations and in associations of pine-oak forests and in their edges.

Its scientific name is  Spermagra leucoptera; but they are commonly known as White wing Tanager, this is one of bird species that inhabits the Arboretum of Universidad Francisco Marroquín.
