Some Architects graduated from Universidad Francisco Marroquín are taking advantage of the studies in this city. Most of us are studying a masters degree in the Polytechnical Universitat of Catalunya; and our performance is superior thanks to the formation we received at the UFM, said architect Rodrigo Cabrera, who is in Barcelona with other alumni of this house of studies.
Cabrera is making a Masters Laboratory in the 21st Century Housing and began his thesis titled Housing in the movies.
Other UFM alumni at the UPC are Manuel Pineda and Juan Fernando Gándara, who have finished their studies, work and are extraordinary designers; and Juan Carlos Valenzuela, who has finished the Masters Laboratory in the 21st Century Housing at UPC whose Director is Josep Maria Montaner, with whom he made a presentation at a housing exhibition in Madrid. Now he works in Diagonal Arquitectura, an office that works a lot in housing projects. His thesis had to do with an intervention on the renovation of the area conformed by Cantón Exposición, in zone 4 of Guatemala.
Tatiana Pujol has finished a master degree in Milán, on Industrial Design, with Graciela Asturias, and now she is at the UPC studying a master in Project Management. Alejandra Sanchez specializes in structures and is also working. Finally Carlos Bernhard, who has just arrived, is about to begin a post degree in Direction and Management of Projects.
One of them praised of very particular way his professors at the UFM and emphasized the work of David Garda, for his way of making a transition from classic to modern; Ana Ingrid Padilla, for the way she gathers the history of Modernism and explains the vanguards of 50s and 60s; and Axel Paredes, whose class of Contemporary Architecture is unique, “and has placed me on top of the masters group, at the level of an alumni of the Bauhaus and Cooper Union (who has worked in the I.M Pei office) and a very good professional of Costa Rica, that is in charge of a publication and organized congresses with guests of the category of Bernardine Gómez-Pimienta, Josep Maria Montaner and Alejandro Aravena (organizer of the Elementary contest)”, he explained.
