During last June and July of 2007, more than 100 freshmen students of the School of Economic Sciences participated in leadership workshops organized by the Excellence Center of Universidad Francisco Marroquín.

The workshops were part of the Leadership class that was given to FCE freshmen students.  The course teachers were Mónica de Zelaya and Karina Bonilla, and it was based on Franklin Covey material.  The workshops were facilitated by Carla de Hess, director of the Center; and by Karina Bonilla, Rodrigo Perez, Pili Biba and Irene Pazos.

The Excellence Center is an educative project directed to UFM students and external persons to contribute to their integral education, developing their teamwork and leadership abilities, explained Carla de Hess.

The facilities of the Excellence Center are located in a hill behind the Ludwig von Mises Library and comprise part of the UFM’s
Arboretum. More than 3.000 persons have received workshops that include ropes dynamics in the University, including students, educational and administrative personnel of this house of studies; as well as students from other institutions and collaborator companies.

Some of the commentaries made by the students were:

The workshops were very nice, cheerful and above all, I learned how to overcome fears and be more daring. You learn about teamwork, planning, solution seeking, to break paradigms and learn from your teammates.I liked it because it gives us useful tools that we are going use in every phase of our lives, and it is not a typical class. It helps to unravel each persons’ potential, we learned to work as a team.It helps us improve the relationships with ourselves and with others. It was very professional and well directed. More photos, here: groups
