José Piñera, at the UFM

For his contribution to the freedom advances in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, José Piñera, father of the Previsional Reform in Chile, doctor honoris causa of the Universidad Francisco Marroquín and Distinguished Senior Fellow of the Cato Institute, will receive the Annual Award of the prestigious Liberální Institut, from the Check Republic.

Among other persons who have received the award are Milton Friedman and James Buchanan, Nobel Prizes in Economics and honorific doctors from the UFM; as well as Gary Becker, also a Nobel prize winner.

The Award ceremony, where
Piñera will lecture on Reinventing the Welfare State in Europe, will be on Monday October 2nd 2006, at the Check Central Bank, in presence of the State ministers, opinion leaders, academics and journalists.
