Around 30 members of the Ludwig von Mises Reading Club of the Francisco Marroquín University had the opportunity to eat lunch and speak with Francisco Pérez de Antón, author of the novel Los hijos del inciencio y de la pólvora, during their session held last April 5th 2006.

«It all started 6 weeks ago, when the members of the Reading Club decided to read a book that offered a wide vision of colonial times in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala; a book in which the author wisely mixes passion, intrigues, love, conspiracies and history, and shows a deep knowledge of that era», Adelaida Loukota, coordinator of the Reading Club, explained.

Many of the Reading Club members had questions for the author and wanted to meet him.  That was why UFM’s President, Giancarlo Ibargüen S., and the Librarys Director, Grete Pasch, made everything they could so that the Club Readers could spend two hours with the author.  During the meeting, Pérez de Antón shared some novel writing secrets, answered questions and even left the group with the mission of investigating the origin of one of the books characters.

«This was the first big activity of the Reading Club, but many more are coming.  Next April 19th, we expect the visit of Amelia Lau, who will comment the books La tienda de mamá y papáand Alfombras de aserrín, besides aspects of childrens literature», concluded Loukota.
