The team that participated in the tour at the Liberty Monument

As an induction and fraternal activity for those that join the Francisco Marroquín University and, from those that welcome the newcommers, a group of staff members of this house of studies participated in a tour around the UFM´s campus.

During the tour, held last Friday March 17th of 2006, the participants visited the Popol Vuh Museum, where they were welcomed by Mayra Ramírez, the President´s assistant; they went to the Liberty Plaza, the Academic Building and the Socratic Wing; the New Media Digital Resources Center, the Advance Tecnologies Center and the Ludwig von Mises Library.

The participants were Mónica Aguilar, from the Registry Department, Pedro España, from New Media; Brenda Aparicio, from the Education Department; Zoraida Cardona and Azucena Mota, from the Nutrition School; Claudia del Valle, from the Business School; María Eugenia González, from the Advanced Tecnologies Center; Eva Meléndez, from the Law School, and Verónica de Moreno, from Reception.

The tour is organized by the President´s Office and is conducted by the Public Relations Department.

During a recess, at the Socratic Wing, Luis Figueroa, PR director, talked to the group about the UFM´s
mission  that is, the teaching and difussion of ethical, legal and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons; as well of the UFM´s commitment with
academic excellence, defined as “the quality of ideas, principles and acts of those who, as professors or students, are located usually over the plain material and rutinary fullfilment of their duty, constituing before all a live example of a coherent life”.  The excellence understood this way “is only possible in a frame of freedom, competitiveness and respect”.  He also told anecdotes of the University´s foundation and life at the old campus.
