Gordon imparts Civil Litigation through international borders

Professor Michael W. Gordon, Chesterfield Smith Professor of Law at the University of Florida, is at the Law School of the Francisco Marroquín University to impart a course titled International Legal Issues, Crossborder Civil Litigation.

Gordon, who will be at the UFM from June 26th to 29th 2006, is a legal consultant and expert witness in domestic and international corporate law, civil legislation and international litigation since 1966 up to date.  He has participated in several binational panels in NAFTA, such as carbon and iron alloys, urea and wheat, among others.

The international transactions, litigations and arbitrage, and the NAFTA legislation, are the expertise areas of Professor Gordon, who is Chesterfield Smith Professor of Law from the College of Law at the University of Florida, Gainesville; and Affiliate Professor from the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida.

The course International Legal Issues  has three parts: the first one, given from June 12 to 23, was given by Lizzie Medrano and had as a central topic the conflict resolutions at the World Trade Organization; the second part, will be given by Gordon; and the third part, from July 3rd to 7th, will be imparted by Ph.D. Mario Bordalba, who will also focus on the conflict resolution by the WTO.

This is the second time that Gordon visits the UFM’s Law School to give this course. In June 2004 he focused on the commercial agreements of DR-CAFTA.
