El ocaso de la ciencia, Una faceta desconocida del pensamiento de Popper, Hacia una epistemología evolucionista and Vico y la hermenéutica social, were the titles of the documents discussed during the closing activities of 2006, celebrated by the members of the Philosophy Seminar of Universidad Francisco Marroquín.
The first session, regarding El ocaso de la ciencia, by Miguel Angel Barrón, was moderated by Juan Diego Guerra; meanwhile, the second session, on Popper’s text, by Gustavo Marqués, was moderated by José Antonio Romero.
After lunch, Walter Hernández moderated the session on the evolutionist epistemological text by Gladis Giraldo. The last session was conducted by Julio César De León Barbero, director of the Seminar, who conducted the discussion on Vico’s text, by Ulises Toledo.
During 2006 the UFM
Philosophy Seminar had monthly sessions on themes like liberalism, principles of political economy and Austrian philosophy.
In 2007 the Seminar will begin with the lecture and discussion of Las raíces intelectuales de la economía comtemporánea, by Oscar Vara Crespo. The Seminar publishes, quarterly and online, the magazine
Eleutheria; and its members participate in activities like the presentation of
work and the book
, by Ludwig von Mises.
The participants in the closing session were Carlos Posadas, David Chacón, Enrique Ramírez, Esteban Andrino, Jorge Alberto Cofiño, José Antonio Romero, Juan Diego Guerra, Juan José Ramírez, José Luis Herrera, Julio Bautista, Julio César De León, Karen Cancinos, Lilian Yon, Walter Hernández, Karen Ness, Carlos Delgado, Juan Ignacio Ardón, Luis Figueroa, Luis Miguel Briz, María del Carmen Pellecer, Marta Yolanda Díaz-Durán, Ninnette Grosjean, Jorge Jacobs, Jaime Freire and Warren Orbaugh.
This final discussion was held at Antigua Guatemala last Saturday November 25th 2006.
